FAQs

How do I know if it’s the right time for my loved one to move to a care home?2024-12-12T13:59:20+00:00

Deciding to move to a care home is a significant decision. Signs that it might be time to consider this option include difficulty with daily tasks, increased health concerns, social isolation, or safety issues at home. We recommend discussing these concerns with a healthcare professional or contacting us for guidance.

Can residents personalize their rooms?2024-12-12T14:03:17+00:00

Absolutely! We encourage residents to bring personal items, such as photos, favourite decorations, and cherished belongings, to make their room feel like home. Our staff will be happy to assist with the transition and help residents set up their space to their liking.

How is family involved in the care process?2024-12-12T14:04:23+00:00

Family engagement is vital to us. We encourage families to participate in care discussions and activities. Regular updates on residents’ well-being are provided, and we invite families to attend events and visit as often as they like. Open communication is a key part of our approach.

How do I arrange a visit?2024-12-12T14:06:02+00:00

We welcome visits to Swanland House, unannounced or by appointment. An appointment will ensure you can see the care home Manager (which is important if you’d like to discuss fees or funding).

Please contact us on 01482 634159 or email management@swanlandhouse.co.uk. We’ll be happy to schedule a time for you to visit, meet our staff, and explore our facilities.

How do I pay for my care?2024-12-12T14:06:49+00:00
How do I become a resident?2024-12-12T14:08:16+00:00

After deciding that Swanland House is the home for you and funding is agreed, whether it is for respite or permanent residence, a member of the management team from that home will complete a detailed pre admission assessment to make sure we can meet all of your needs and get to know you as well as possible. Once this is completed and everyone is happy, the information is fed back to the care team so they can understand your needs from day one. If you would like a trial day/period within the home to make sure you are 100% happy before moving in, that can be arranged also.

Do you offer a Day Care and or Respite care service?2024-12-12T14:09:00+00:00

Yes! For prices and availability for respite or day care, please get in touch.

Who should I ask for when I contact Swanland House?2024-12-12T14:09:39+00:00

Anyone one of our care team will be happy to help. Our Manager’s name is Inma, feel free to ask for her if you have any specific questions.

Can I consider Swanland House for my loved one as a local authority funded placement?2024-12-12T14:11:11+00:00

Yes, we welcome residents who are both self-funded and local authority funded. If you have a preference for your loved one to come to Swanland House, mention this to your social worker and they can make the necessary arrangements.

Do you cater for all dietary requirements?2024-12-12T14:11:50+00:00

We do! Our chefs are very accommodating and will always be happy to speak directly to residents and family members regarding any specific dietary requirements/allergies.

Are there specific visiting times?2024-12-12T14:12:39+00:00

No. We encourage family and friends to visit at any time, but it is advisable to avoid mealtimes to minimise disruption to your loved ones routine.

Can I reserve a room in advance?2024-12-12T14:13:26+00:00

Depending on availability, you may be able to reserve a room with a deposit payment. Please speak to us directly with regards to options and availability.
